With Governor Kristi Noem tapped to lead the Department of Homeland Security under President-elect Donald Trump, a big seat in the state will need to be filled.

The two-term governor of South Dakota has been a loyal Trump ally. In her new role, Noem would oversee immigration, an issue Trump campaigned heavily on.

Kristi Noem will be in charge of implementing Trump’s policies on immigration, including his pledge to carry out mass deportations of undocumented migrants, one of the key elements of the incoming president’s second term agenda.
