Indian cricket captain Rohit Sharma will miss the first Test against Australia in Perth. Sharma and his wife welcomed their second child on Friday. He will rejoin the team later in the series after spending time with his family in Mumbai.

Rohit and Ritika, who had married in 2015 and welcomed daughter Samaira into their lives three years later, took to social media to announce the birth of their son on Saturday.

Former India captain Sourav Ganguly feels that Rohit Sharma should leave for Australia as soon as possible and play the opening Test match in Perth. Speaking ahead of India's tour of Australia, Ganguly said that the Indian team needs leadership.
