WEDDINGTON, N.C. – Officials in Union County are investigating an apparent house explosion that happened Sunday morning, according to the sheriff’s office. It happened around 9 a.m. at a home on Steeple Chase Circle in the Weddington area. First responders were called to the home after receiving multiple reports of a large explosion.

Emergency officials in Union County say that they were called to the home around 9 a.m. after numerous reports of a large explosion. Deputies say a severe portion of the home had heavy damage when they arrived on scene. Officials say that two people inside of the home at the time of the explosion.

Weddington, NC — WEDDINGTON, NC - Two people are injured after the home they were in exploded, according to the Union County Sheriff’s Office. UCSO said several people notified first responders of a large explosion. It happened around 9 am on Steeple Chase Circle, off Providence Road S, in Weddington.

Several fire departments rushed to a home on Steeple Chase Circle in Weddington in response to reports of a home explosion and house fire on Sunday morning, according to the Charlotte Fire Department. The Union County Sheriff's Office said the explosion just before 9 a.m. was felt countywide.

Union County Communications said the call came in around 8:50 a.m. to 240 Steeple Chase Circle in Wesley Chapel.
